Ugh.

You know how I always say that this is going to be a short post?

Well, this one really is.

School was fine today, and then I went to tennis. The meet was mostly fine, but about halfway through I started getting a major headache. It turned out that that major headache was actually a debilitating migraine, one that I am still battling.

TMI alert: every time I go off my birth control pill, even just for the placebo week, I get a crazy migraine due to hormone withdrawal. This is one of the reasons I decided to switch to the IUD: that many hormones pumping through my bloodstream on a daily basis can't be good.

Anyway, this one was the worst ever. I could barely make it home: I felt dizzy, I couldn't concentrate, etc. I seriously almost wanted to throw up.

When I got home, I went to the bathroom and immediately crawled into bed with the covers over my face. And I stayed there, off-and-on snoozing and just lying there -- for two hours. I could've stayed there longer (and perhaps should have since I still feel like puking would be nice), but I had to get up and pack for tomorrow, run to the store for kitty litter, cat food, and coffee.

Ugh.

I really hope this goes away soon. Maybe this Tylenol and coconut water will help.

Breakfast: Paleo Oatmeal: three eggs, coconut milk, cinnamon, walnuts, almonds, almond butter.

Lunch: Sweet potatoes, avocado, mushroom, eggs, jalapeno.

Snack: Cashew-almond-craisin trail mix.

Dinner: Nothing because I want to throw up -- and because I cannot stay vertical long enough to make something.

I hope you have a great weekend! I will have a post for y'all tomorrow morning, but I probably won't "see" you otherwise until Sunday night.

Peace out, yo.

  1. Em,
I'm sorry to hear about your migraine. I had horrible birth control related migraines for years. I've had my IUD for 3.5 years and have only had one migraine since. It gets better, stay hydrated and take care of yourself.

    1. Thanks, Karla! My headache has been much, much better. I'm hoping that was my last one -- loving the IUD so far!

  2. i too had headaches for the first few weeks of my IUD. Body going through estrogen withdrawal. It will pass, but probably not without medicine. Can you take Excedrin?

    1. The migraine has subsided thus far, Beth -- hopefully it decides to stay gone! I can't take Excedrin right now because it's an NSAID and I may be allergic to it, so I'll chat with the allergist on Wednesday and see if he has any non-acetaminophen suggestions for me since Tylenol pretty much does crap for me. :)
